Burgos – The city of El Cid

Burgos is the hometown of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar, whose legend is used as the base for the Hollywood movie – El Cid, staring Charles Heston and Sophie Loren. Its sister city is Brugge in Belgium, a city very close to Leuven, where my father worked as a professor of biology several years ago.

I made a day trip to Burgos this Saturday. The most famous building in Burgos is its medieval cathedral, which dates back to 11th century. Its twin towers were built in 13 and 14th centuries. Additionally, I really enjoyed taking a stroll by the river Arlanzon, taking pictures of the Arco de Santa maria, and climbing the hills, reaching the castle, which offers a good view of the city from above.

Here are some pictures from my day trip.

Here are some of my previous paintings

After getting my aunt Wei Hua’s paintings, I decided to post my paintings online as well.
Also, my father Johnson has an online photo album.

My Aunt Wei Hua’s Paintings

My aunt Wei Hua is a retired English teacher. She started taking painting lessons two years ago. Recently, she emailed us some of her paintings. It is quite amazing. (See below)
